Tangkuban Perahu volcano near Bandung

Tangkuban Perahu volcano is aprox 19 miles north of Bandung and you can get there by car and even drive up to to the rim of the main crater (there's a parking area). The view from up there is magnificent but the place can get a little bit too touristy. Way better and walkable is Kawah Domas, half a mile from the main crater, where you can actually see some kind of volcanic activity. The hot water is bubbling in small pools where you can even boil an egg. There are walking trails through the forest and you can hire a guide to get you to the volcanic Ciater hot spring.
