Souvenir shopping in Jakarta

Posted 1 year ago by avatar eduardo in response to avatar greenmile's question: I have this hobby, I collect old stuff from all over the world so where can I do that in Jakarta? Is there a flea market there? (give a different answer) .

The flea- market on Jalan Surabaya, one block west of Cikini station in Jakarta's Menteng district, sells fine silver jewellery, and traditional Javanese wooden trunks and other pieces of furniture, as well as old records. The entire third floor of the Sarinah department store houses a souvenirs' rayon, with "wayang kulit" and "wayang golek" puppets, leather bags and woodcarvings. A similar selection of souvenirs can be found at Pasar Seni (Art market) on Jl Raya Kampung Bandan, alongside paintings and woodcarvings.
