general's question:
I heard the people in Toraja, Sulawesi island, start partying when somebody dies. What is a funeral like?(give a different answer) .
It's indeed a kind of party, going on for days: the family sacrifices a pig or a water buffalo, actually as many as they can afford, dress colouful and start the dances and flows of palm wine. You hit it big time if you arrived in time for a ceremony, the locals are very enthusiastic about funeral guests. They don't bury their dead in the ground, but inside cliff caves, together with earthly goods, and replace crosses by the tau-tau (carved wooden portraits of the decease).
